Our next Chapter Ride will be to Copperhead Lodge on June 9, 2012. Some members will be staying the night at the lodge.

Since the schedule was set in January and we didn’t have a variety of choices we selected Ft. Mountain State Park as our May fun ride.  Considering the fact that we went thru this area just two weeks ago, we have opted to change the fun ride for May to the following;

We had great weather for a nice ride to Madison. 11 bikes, and 18 people together for lunch and good times.

This months Chapter ride is to Amicalola Falls State Park near Dawsonville, GA. We will be riding up there, eating lunch at the lodge, taking a short hike to the falls and tour the museum.

For those of you that live in the Lawrenceville, Loganville, Dacula area’s we will have a group meet at or sponsoring Dealer, Lawrenceville Honda Yamaha, on Saturday 5/12 at 9:30 AM with kick stands up promptly at 9:45. We will ride to Exit 16 at 985 and pick up the balance for the group at the Quick Trip located at that exit. (This is Hwy 53 in Flowery Branch). We will meet that group at 10:15 with kick stands up promtly at 10:30 for the ride to Amicalola Falls.

The ride will be lead by Vincent Vescuso one of the Chapter Road Captains.

We had a great time. Rode from Lawrenceville Yamaha up to Hwy 53 to meet the rest of the group. We had 12 bikes in total. We then rode up to Amilcalola Falls and had lunch at the Lodge, followed by a hike from the bottom of the falls to the top and back again.

Good weather, great friends, and fun times.

We will eat along the way (where, I don’t know as time will be a factor), but a good day is in store for everyone that attends. The weather looks to be phenomenal for Saturday, low 80′s and <10% chance of rain. Should be a great ride. We did reconnaissance on this ride last September and have been looking forward to taking my friends there this year.

Because this will be a long day we will need to leave earlier than normal and we will break up meeting points for this ride. Anyone wanting to leave from Lawrenceville Honda Yamaha on Saturday morning, we will meet at 8:00 am with kick stands up promptly at 8:15. For those that want to pick up the group in Oakwood, we will meet you at the QT at Exit 16 (Hwy 53 and I-985) at 8:45, kick stands up promptly at 9:00 am.

This ride is 275 miles round trip from the QT at Exit 16. Please come prepared for a slightly longer day. For those of you that went on the Warm Springs ride, the time and miles are about the same.

STAR Chapter 421 had little to do with the turn out. But we had everything to do with the experience that a lot of people who showed up did have. We had many great conversations with many great people, all of whom are looking for what we offer.

The winners of the 50/50 and the Chinese Auction had several positive comments on our display, enthusiasm and the work we are doing for our charitable organization.

“Great Job Everyone”! We put our best foot forward. It was a group effort from start to finish and was totally rewarding.

We thank all of our fellow STAR members that were there and who worked very hard to get everything unloaded and distributed. We appreciate the Greenville SC, Cartersville and Atlanta Chapters coming out to help and we were very honored that Christine and Brad Bennett drove all the way down from Winchester, VA to join us and support us!

Many families were provided with boxes of food and essential items and the folks with Get Real Ministries were a tremendous help in getting everything done and everyone taken care of.

Thanks again to everyone!

Our Chapter has been in existence for 5 years, but the last two have certainly been more active as a Chapter! We are always looking for new members and welcome all our new members over the past years! We are just a group of people getting out and riding!

STAR Touring is very involved in the community and promoting our sport in a very positive and professional way. Currently we are at 18 charter members. We do require all Chapter members to be members of STAR Touring.

We have 10 scheduled chapter rides per year, one per month typically on the second Saturday of the month. The chapter rides are usually kept to 150 +/- miles as it’s harder to do longer rides with a group that is getting bigger. We have a variety of experience levels in the group so we try to keep the Chapter Rides to a manageable level but still fun for everyone.

We also have 10 scheduled “Fun Rides”. These are chapter events, however are typically for the more hardcore, riding up to 450 miles in a day kind of rides.
